What is Half-Stitch?Half-stitch is a form of needlepoint crafting! Needlepoint is a large and varied art form that involves using a needle, thread and canvas to create a design. Chances are you’ve heard of needlepoint crafts like embroidery or cross stitch before.
Why are our kits called Half-Stitch?Our half-stitch kits are a variation of traditional needlepoint, using a lightweight yarn stitched through starched canvas. We’ve named our kits ‘half-stitch’ because of the type of stitch used, a ‘half-cross stitch’! But this sort of needlepoint can also go by other names, such as tapestry or ‘tent’ stitch.
What makes half-stitch so beginner friendly?Our kits are perfect for absolute craft beginners (or those looking for a more satisfying project) because they involve an easy stitch that is repeated to create a detailed design. Our kits are pre-printed so you don’t need to read a pattern, and they are pre-sewn so you can use your pouch straight away.
How are your kits different from traditional needlepoint?The biggest difference between traditional needlepoint and our kits is that we have pre-sewn our designs so that they are functional straight after you’re finished. Classic needlepoint is stitched onto a flat canvas piece, and requires you to ‘finish’ your design in some form in order to use it. We have no shade towards traditional needlepoint - in fact we love it! But it can be daunting for craft newbies or those looking for a more easy-going project, which is why we love to help by sewing the pouch before its in your hands.

Needle threaders are not strictly necessary for half stitch, but are incredibly useful. Yarn used for half stitch is thicker than embroidery floss and tougher to thread only with your fingers. Needle threaders significantly reduce this difficulty and get you working on your project faster!
