How to use your Pom Pom Makers

Getting Started:

  • Your pom pom maker has multiple pieces that split apart
  • Two coloured sides that open (with gaps between)
  • A white centre piece with a metal pin connecting the two sides
  • Choose your yarn colours (one or multiple work great!)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Wrapping Your Pom Pom:

  1. Open your pom pom maker and hold one coloured end
  2. Hold your yarn ends securely and begin wrapping around the coloured ends, making sure to wrap both sides.
  3. Keep wrapping until the section is fully covered.
  4. Close this side and move your yarn to the opposite side.
  5. Wrap the second side evenly to match the first.
  6. Close both sides completely, keeping the yarn wrapped.

Snipping Your Pom Pom:

  1. Using sharp scissors, cut along the grooves between the two coloured pieces that you wrapped with yarn. This will split your yarn in half.
  2. Take a length of yarn (approx. 15cm long) and slide it through the middle groove.
  3. Pull tight and wrap around 2-3 times for security, tying it in a tight double knot. Be careful here to pull firmly but not too tight, as you can split your yarn if you're not careful! If that happens, simply cut a new length and re-tie it.
  4. Release your pom pom by removing the coloured pieces on each end, sliding them up.
  5. Separate the middle white piece slowly, pulling them apart where the pin connects. If your pom pom maker falls apart, thats completely normal! The pieces are meant to be separate and modular - we show you how to put it back together in the video.
  6. TA-DA! You've created a perfectly shaped pom pom!
  7. Give your pom pom a final trim to get the perfect shape.

Pro Tips:

  • For moss coasters, use the smallest two sizes
  • For rugs, use larger sizes as focal points
  • Count your wraps to match our pattern instructions
  • Keep a finger on the coloured sections of your pom pom maker while cutting to keep them secure.
