What is the difference between counted cross stitch and stamped cross stitch?
Stamped cross stitch kits come with the Aida cloth with the design stamped on the fabric itself. Counted cross stitch, on the other hand, contains blank fabric and a pattern which is copied in your stitches. Stamped cross stitch may be preferable for some beginners, but with counted cross stitch, the fabric and pattern choice can be yours to make!
Is cross stitch or embroidery easier for beginners?
It depends! Our cross stitch and embroidery kits are all beginner-friendly. While cross stitch has a single and easy to master technique, the patterns aren't printed on the fabric. Embroidery, on the other hand, has the pattern printed, but has more than one technique to learn. Either way, we have comprehensive tutorials to guide you.

Why do you start in the middle for cross stitch?

Is it better to cross stitch in a hoop or in your hand?
Cross stitching with a hoop or just in your hand are two very viable options that mostly depend on your own preference. The benefits of using a hoop are that it will keep the fabric taut and the tension on your stitches even. Stitching with the cloth in your hand might be better for very small pieces or really tough fabric where forcing it into a hoop isn't easy.
