What is the difference between counted cross stitch and stamped cross stitch?
Stamped cross stitch kits come with the Aida cloth with the design stamped on the fabric itself. Counted cross stitch, on the other hand, contains blank fabric and a pattern which is copied in your stitches. Stamped cross stitch may be preferable for some beginners, but with counted cross stitch, the fabric and pattern choice can be yours to make!
Is cross stitch or embroidery easier for beginners?
It depends! Our cross stitch and embroidery kits are all beginner-friendly. While cross stitch has a single and easy to master technique, the patterns aren't printed on the fabric. Embroidery, on the other hand, has the pattern printed, but has more than one technique to learn. Either way, we have comprehensive tutorials to guide you.
What is cross stitch?
Cross stitch is a form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches (called cross stitches) in a grid, pixel-like pattern are used to form a handcrafted piece of art.
Why do you start in the middle for cross stitch?
Starting your cross stitch from the middle of the design ensures that the pattern will be centred on the fabric. It also decreases the risk miscounting from the sides and running out of room to stitch.
Is cross stitch outdated?
Not at all! Like many hobbies, cross stitch has come in and out of fashion, but the art form has never really disappeared. Modern designs have been made to encourage younger age demographics to enjoy the craft.
What is the benefit of crafting?

Do the minis come with all three patterns, or do I have to choose one?
All cross stitch minis kits come with enough materials to create all three patterns! No need to try and choose a favourite, because we sure couldn't!
What are common cross stitch mistakes?
Miscounting is the most common cross stitch mistake. To ensure you're following the pattern accurately, you can cross out the squares you have already completed, or use a fabric pen to draw the design onto the aida cloth. Counting will, however, get easier with practice.
Is it better to cross stitch in a hoop or in your hand?
Cross stitching with a hoop or just in your hand are two very viable options that mostly depend on your own preference. The benefits of using a hoop are that it will keep the fabric taut and the tension on your stitches even. Stitching with the cloth in your hand might be better for very small pieces or really tough fabric where forcing it into a hoop isn't easy.
