What is the Orbit System?
The Orbit System is two journals designed as a pair. Your Satellite is the small one — it lives in your bag and catches ideas the moment they turn up. Your Home Base is the big one — it stays on your desk and holds the thinking you want to keep.
Every page in the Satellite is perforated, so when something is worth keeping, it tears out cleanly and moves across. Both books use the same dotted grid, so they speak the same language.
You can absolutely use either one on its own. They're just better together.
Do I need both the Home Base and the Satellite?
Not at all — each one works perfectly well by itself.
Start with the Home Base if you journal at a desk and like room to spread out. Start with the Satellite if your best ideas turn up on the bus.
Most people end up with both eventually. There's no wrong order to get there.

How do the Satellite Journal's perforated pages work?
Every page in the Satellite Journal is perforated, so it tears out in one clean pull — no ragged edge, no torn corner, and no damage to the pages either side of it. Take a page out to move it into your Home Base Journal, hand it to someone, or stick it on a wall.
What's the difference between a Home Base Journal and a Satellite Journal?
The Home Base Journal has 192 of 148mm x 210mm pages, whereas the Satellite Journal contains 96 120mm x 170mm pages. The Satellite Journal is designed with daily errands in mind, a perfect size to conveniently carry with you. The Home Base Journal, being a more standard size, is designed with mindfulness and slowing down in mind - a place to organise those thoughts and neaten them up.
Does the Home Base Journal come with the elastic strap?
No — and it doesn't need it to stay shut. Both the Home Base and the Satellite have their own elastic closure band built in.
The Orbit Elastic Strap is a separate product. It's the piece that adds a pen holder and the D-ring your Petals Charm hangs from, and it comes in all four Orbit colourways so you can match your journal or deliberately clash with it.
What do the inside of the Home Base and Satellite Journals look like?
All pages in both the Home Base and Satellite Journal are dotted grids. This gives you the freedom to sketch, write, and play around as much as you'd like.
Are the Home Base and Satellite Journals supposed to have internal pockets like the Craft Project Planner?
No, the Home Base and Satellite Journals aren't supposed to have internal pockets. We've kept these designs sleek and concise.
Can I buy just one, or do I need the pair?
Buy whichever one you want — they both work perfectly well on their own. The Home Base is the desk book, the Satellite is the carry book, and they're designed to hand pages back and forth if you end up with both.
Do I have to be a crafter to use an Orbit Journal?
Nope. The Orbit Journals are dotted grid from cover to cover, with no prompts and no printed structure — so they'll happily be a work notebook, a reading journal, a sketchbook, a to-do list or somewhere to put your feelings. We just happen to have designed them while thinking about craft projects.
If you do want prompts and progress markers built in, that's what our Craft Project Planner is for.
Is a journal a diary?
